| Bollywood actress Bipasha Basu has been named the Sexiest Asian Woman in the World 2007 by a popular London-based Asian newspaper, Eastern Eye. Bipasha bagged the title in 2005 as well. Madhuri Dixit was voted the runner-up, while last year's winner, former Miss World and Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra, bagged the third position this year. Aishwarya Rai, a huge Bollywood actress, was only voted for the fourth position. The other Bollywood actresses who made it to the top 10 positions are Shilpa Shetty, who came in sixth followed by Katrina Kaif, Kareena Kapoor and Lara Dutta. Commenting on her selection, 28-year-old Bipasha said, "I'm glad I got the crown back and will try and hold on to it this time." "I think sexiness goes beyond looks and is a total package, from your personality to the way you carry yourself in your everyday life. I'm really grateful to all who voted for me because I work very hard," added the actress. Expressing his own points of view on Bipasha's international appeal, Hemant Verma, editor of Eastern Eye and the founder of its Sexiest Asian Women in the World List, went on to say: "Bipasha is a living embodiment of sexual attractiveness. Her acting ability, beauty and charm are capable of arousing great interest in her from the world's media." |
Bipasha
Bipasha made her acting debut with Abbas Mustan's 'Ajnabee', with Akshay Kumar, Bobby Deol and Kareena Kapoor. She played a married woman who goes all out to woo her husband's married friend, and eventually won the Filmfare Best Female Debut Award for her performance. In 2006, she won popular acclaim for her Item number "Beedi Jalaile jigar ma piya" in the song Omkara. Quite recently she is seen in 'Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal' opposite her real life beau John Abraham.

Madhuri Dixit
Madhuri Dixit, 42, is at number two. Queen of hearts, the eternal Dhak Dhak girl Madhuri Dixit continues to rule. She may have been away from the strobe lights of glamour, but her tantalizing appeal fails to diminish in the wake of fresh young talent. In fact, today she is looking fitter and even more radiant than even before. And of course she is dancing away to glory yet again in her comeback vehicle 'Aaja Nachle'.

Aishwarya Rai
One of the most charming women in the world, Aishwarya Rai became Asia's fourth sexiest woman. She is now the most popular actress of India and has worked on many international projects also, such as Bride & Prejudice (2003) and The Last Legion (2007). Aishwarya began modeling on the side while pursuing for studies in Architecture, which did not materialise. In the 1994 Miss India pageant, she was placed second behind Sushmita Sen, and went on to win the Miss World title that same year and the Miss Photogenic award. After the one year reign as Miss World in London, she then worked as a professional model, in advertising and Indian fashion magazines and later got into the Indian film industry. Among her successful movies are 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam', 'Taal', 'Devdas', 'Dhom 2' and 'Guru'.

Shilpa Shetty
Life In A... Metro's hottie Shilpa Shetty makes it to the list at number six. Shetty was also the winner of Celebrity Big Brother, UK. In February 2007, she attended a reception at the House of Commons to meet with then British Prime Minister Tony Blair. She was also invited to meet with Queen Elizabeth II at Marlborough House in London in March 2007. In early September 2007 she modeled at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week. On her agenda next, is a cookery book titled 'Soul Curry' and role of Sita in Uru Patel's international venture 'Hanuman'.

Priyanka Chopra
Last year's winner Priyanka Chopra, 25, was placed third in public poll conducted by the Eastern Eye. Born on July 18 1982, Priyanka Chopra is an award-winning Bollywood actress. Priyanka was crowned Miss India World and later Miss World in 2000. In the same year, Lara Dutta and Diya Mirza, both from India, won the Miss Universe and Miss Asia Pacific crowns, in a rare triple. When she won the Miss World crown, she became the fifth Indian woman to win the title, and the fourth Indian woman to win in a span of seven years.

Katrina Kaif
Katrina Kaif makes it to the list at number seven. Kartina was born and brought up in London to an NRI father and a British mother. Her father is originally from Kashmir. When she was doing modeling in London, she came to the notice of filmmaker Kaizad Gustad and snapped an important role in his film 'Boom'. Katrina then decided to take acting as her full-fledged career and shifted her base to Mumbai. With her gorgeous face and hourglass figure, Katrina was flooded with modeling assignments in Mumbai. Her so far films include 'Welcome', 'Partner', 'Apne', 'Namaste London', 'Sarkar', and 'Maine Pyar Kion Kiya'.


Lara Dutta
Lara Dutta (born on April 16, 1978) is a Bollywood actress. Dutta won the annual Gladsrags modeling competition in India, thus winning the right to be the first Indian representative at the 1997 Miss Intercontinental pageant, in which she took first place. Later, she was crowned Femina Miss India Universe and Miss Universe in 2000. She is a part of some successful films like 'Andaaz', 'Masti', 'Kaal', 'No Entry', 'Partner', and 'Bhagam Bhag', The public voted for those they thought were the sexiest Asian women from a list of 100 names published in the newspaper and on its website. The chairman of the judges' panel was Eastern Eye's show business editor Asjad Nazir.
